Asia-Pacific Masters Games 2023 Jeonbuk Korea was successfully held from 12th to 20th May 2023. Deng Yue of School of Physical Education, University of Sanya, participated in the Men’s events under 40 - Gyeorugi (87kg), Poomsae (Individual), and Poomsae (Group). He competed with the athletes from South Korea, Mongolia, U.S.A., Canada, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia and Chinese Taiwan. He won the silver of Gyeorugi (87kg), the bronze of Poomsae (Individual), and the silver of Poomsae (Group).
The World Masters Games is a multi-sport event hosted by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA) every four years. IMGA is a multi-sport association recognized by International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its headquarter is at Lausanne, Switzerland.
As aDeng Yue is not only an instructor of Black Belt (5th Dan) popular among the students but also an experienced international and national judge. He participated in the 2023 Masters Games as an athlete. After three months’ preparation, he lost weight from 93.60kg to 86.40kg. He won the silver with an injury in his left calf. The bronze of Poomsae (Individual) he won was the best result for the Chinese athletes in this group. In the event of Poomsae (Group), he and his teammates, Shi Youbin (7th Dan) and Fan Huaxiang (5th Dan) from Guangdong Province won the silver.
Deng Yue said, the shock and impact of the International multi-sport games is completely incomparable to any individual competition. Every participant at the scene felt excited at the athletes’ entrance, show on the opening ceremony and the lighting of the flame. He experienced the cultural collision and the expression of friendship. He learned from the other athletes and the organizer of the Games.
